Frequently Asked Questions

The team will aim to arrive no later than 8:30 but will generally arrive around 08:00, although for smaller jobs we are unable to provide exact time it will either be am or pm appointments but we will gladly accommodate any requirements you have at the time of accepting the job.

When the job is completed, the Team Leader will ask you to sign to confirm your satisfaction with the works completed. Please only sign this when you are satisfied that all items are completed to your satisfaction. Please raise any queries you might have with the Team Leader before signing the job off. The office will invoice ‘signed off’ jobs within 7 days. All contracts and instructions are accepted on the basis of payment of full invoice price on receipt of invoice. Unless other terms have been agreed in writing.

We will happily leave you the wood for logging if asked to. We will endeavour to cut the logs into in large chunks for you to handle, they will be stacked near to where the tree was dismantled. If you would like us to log and stack them this can also be arranged at an additional cost.

We will leave your garden as tidy as possible with little evidence of us being there. We will tidy up by hand and also remove most of the leaves by means of a blower. The lawn may have some brushed areas where we have dragged large branches. Obviously, if the garden is very wet there may be areas of mud.

Having tree work carried out is normally unavoidably noisy with chainsaws and wood-chippers operating in normally quiet residential areas. There will be some disruption but we will try to keep it to a minimum and for the shortest time possible.

For certain operations, such as stump-grinding a minimum of 36 inches is required for us to get our machine in, generally a normal sized alleyway will do.

A tree preservation order is made by the local planning authority which makes it an offence to cut down, reduce, crown thin, uproot, willfully damage or willfully destroy a tree without permission from the planning authority. Tree preservation orders are used to protect trees that contribute to the appearance (amenity value) of an area. They are made if a tree is under threat of being cut down or damaged.

If you destroy or damage a tree you could be fined up to £20,000 if convicted in the magistrates’ court. For other offences you could be fined up to £2,500. If the tree was cut down or destroyed you will normally have to plant a replacement tree.

Whilst our staff will operate with care and diligence often our work entails the carrying of large amounts of brushwood & logs over lawns and past the house. Please make sure that vulnerable surfaces such as white walls are adequately protected and that fragile objects are moved. Lawns tend to recover rapidly but very wet weather can give rise to very muddy conditions. We are able to provide boards to protect the lawn. However, this is not a standard procedure and will incur an additional cost.
